In-Depth InterviewsFind Out More Through Customized, In-Depth Interviews
Not all primary research calls for structured interviewing techniques, and when it calls for something else, Guideline is prepared to make the right recommendation. In some cases, semi-structured, intensive, in-depth interviewing methods are the most useful to learn more about:
- Business problems where there is little internal knowledge or understanding
- Issues of process, such as how decisions are made
- Reasons for complex events, activities or behaviors
- In-depth understanding of how consumers, business executives, physicians or patients make decisions
Guideline works closely with clients to develop effective research questions and identify the target population for interviewing. Our in-house interviewers set up appointments and follow through with the interviews, either in person or by telephone.
In-depth interviewing calls for precise recording of respondents’ answers. This frequently requires the use of our internal digital recording devices. Transcripts of the interviews can be prepared for formal qualitative content analysis and reporting.
New technology allows us to combine in-depth probing with online interviewing, combining the best capabilities of both qualitative and quantitative interviewing.
