Management Team
Marc Litvinoff
Chief Executive Officer


 

Marc Litvinoff joined Guideline in May 2004, assuming responsibility for the oversight of all client services at the Company.

Mr. Litvinoff has had a successful 20-year career focused on industry research, analysis and consulting. Most recently, he was the Chief Executive Officer of RHK, an advisory and research services provider, where he oversaw the strategic direction for the Company’s business and market development activities worldwide. Prior to that, Mr. Litvinoff was President and Chief Operating Officer of Knowledge Networks, a market intelligence and research company.

He also had a distinguished career with Gartner Inc. holding multiple positions, including Senior Vice President of Gartner’s Technology Provider Group and Group Vice President and Worldwide Director for Dataquest Research Operations. Mr. Litvinoff also directed Gartner’s research as it applies to small and medium-size organizations and the higher education marketplace, fulfillment of the newsletter business, and was Research Director for the PC services’ desktop hardware and peripheral research.

Mr. Litvinoff also worked for ADP, MONY Financial Services (formerly Mutual of New York) and Dreyfus Corporation.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Banking, Finance, and Investments from Hofstra University.



Walter Dempsey
Senior Managing Director, On-Demand Business Research


 

Walter Dempsey is the Senior Managing Director of Guideline’s On-Demand Business Research Division. He leads an organization that includes more than 75 research professionals who respond to over 50,000 requests each year.

Walter has been with Guideline, formerly FIND/SVP, for over 20 years. He started his Guideline career as a member of the Financial Services Group where he specialized in international research. Walter was promoted to Group Manager of Financial Services in 1984. In 1990, he was named Director of the Business Information Center and assumed the leadership of several practice groups including Financial Services, Consumer Products & Services, and Professional Services. Walter was named Vice President of the Business Information Center in 2003. Walter started his research career at the New York State Legislature where he worked as a legislative correspondent for the New York State Assembly Speaker's Office.

Walter holds a B.A. in English from the University at Albany. He lives in Bernardsville, New Jersey with his wife and three children.



David Magnani
Senior Managing Director


 

Dave Magnani joined Guideline in July 2003 following the Company’s acquisition of Teltech. He is focused on providing research to support the nation’s technology-driven Fortune 1000 companies. Specifically, Mr. Magnani’s group assists in the decision- making, conceiving, developing and commercialization of new products.

Mr. Magnani has held various leadership roles within Teltech for the past ten years. Prior to this role, he had a distinguished career with McKinsey & Co. with broad industry experience helping companies improve performance through strategic and organizational change, especially in the area of product development.

Mr. Magnani has a Masters in Management from Northwestern’s Kellogg Graduate School of Business and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin. He resides in Eden Prairie, Minnesota with his four children, three of which are triplets.



Ty Albert
Managing Director, Guideline Chicago


 

Ty Albert has been with Guideline since 1992. He has over 25 years of marketing expertise and research management experience. He has held senior-level research positions with two major corporations and a prominent advertising agency.

Mr. Albert’s expertise covers a wide variety of industry verticals, such as Food & Beverage, Consumer Household Products, Clothing/Apparel, Jewelry, Health & Fitness and Home Appliances. His expertise includes several research techniques, such as consumer product testing; new product sales volumetric forecasting; awareness, attitudes & usage studies; price sensitivity studies; concept/product fit tests and customer/member satisfaction & loyalty studies.

Mr. Albert has served as a member of the advisory board for the Council of Marketing and Opinion Research. He has also served as President of the American Marketing Association’s National Marketing Research Council.

Mr. Albert holds a B.A. in Economics from Franklin & Marshall College (Lancaster, PA).



Costas Pavlides
Managing Director, Guideline Boston


 

Costas Pavlides is the Managing Director of Guideline’s Boston-based Custom Market Research Group. He joined Guideline in April 2005 following the Company’s acquisition of Atlantic Research & Consulting.

In addition to managing business development and operations, Mr. Pavlides oversees key client accounts in the branding, advertising, and financial services arenas and over the past five years has worked extensively with clients in these industries. Important areas of concentration include customer satisfaction and loyalty, branding research, advertising effectiveness, and product development and positioning. In the recent past, he has assisted a leading national bank with a significant volume of research related to customer satisfaction and loyalty, including comprehensive studies related to problem incidence and customer attrition.

Mr. Pavlides holds a Bachelor’s degree from the Dublin Institute of Technology, Ireland.



Robert Reitter
Managing Director, Guideline Legal


 

Bob Reitter heads up Guideline Legal, a group that specializes in market research commissioned with litigation in prospect. He brings to this work forty years of experience, of which the past seventeen have been at Guideline. Prior to joining Guideline, he headed his own firm, serving as both planner and supplier of consumer research for companies in the food, beverage, fashion and travel/hotel industries.

Mr. Reitter has spoken at meetings of the American Marketing Association, published in its Journal of Marketing Research, prepared manuals of consumer research procedure, and advised the ASTM Committee for Developing Guidelines for Claims Substantiation. He has testified as an expert witness in some thirty litigated court cases and has appeared frequently before the National Advertising Division and the National Advertising Review Board, as well as the Federal Trade Commission.

Mr. Reitter began his market research career at General Foods Corporation, and holds BA and MA degrees from Yale University.



Morris S. Whitcup, Ph.D.
Chief Research Officer


 

Morris S. Whitcup, Ph.D., is Chief Research Officer at Guideline, specializing in the pharmaceutical and healthcare industry. Dr. Whitcup has nearly 25 years of hands-on experience in marketing research, during the course of which he estimates he has conducted or consulted on over 4,000 studies.

Since receiving a Ph.D. in Social Psychology from Columbia University, Dr. Whitcup has held senior executive positions with several marketing research firms, including AHF/Macro, Guideline Research Corporation and Custom Research, Inc.

Dr. Whitcup has conducted label comprehension research for successful Rx to OTC switch products, including Aleve, Lamisil AT and Zantac 75/150. He has also conducted consumer studies submitted to the FDA related to comprehension of medication dosing instructions, understanding of instructions for use of devices, risk management, and OTC product line differentiation.

Outside the pharmaceutical realm, Dr. Whitcup has extensive experience in imagery-driven product categories and financial services

His research has also been submitted to or funded by various Federal agencies, including the FDA, the Federal Trade Commission, Department of Defense, National Institutes of Health, and Social Security Administration.



Christine W. Dalzell, Ph.D.
Senior Managing Director


 

As a Senior Managing Director at Guideline, Christine Ward Dalzell is responsible for the day-to-day management of Custom Research in New York, as well as the general oversight of the Chicago office. Since joining Guideline, she has lead research projects for a broad range of industries, but with particular focus in the areas of pharmaceutical and healthcare, consumer packaged goods, financial, health and beauty aids and retail. Christine has extensive expertise in statistical modeling and data analysis, including cluster analysis/segmentation, multiple regression, path analysis, structural equation modeling and preference modeling.

In 1999, Christine accepted a position as Senior Project Director for Advanced Analytics, which later became a division of Guideline. Christine has also served as a Research Consultant for the New York Harbor Healthcare System and has conducted research for both Accent Music and the Dupont Company.

Christine earned her Doctorate in social psychology from the University of Delaware with emphasis in data analysis and research design.



Richard Forzani
Vice President, Sales


 

Mr. Forzani joined Guideline in October 2005 and oversees all of Guideline’s sales activities including strategy and methodology, as well as overall development of the sales force. He has 25 years of direct sales and sales management experience, with the second half of his career focusing on research and consulting services.

Prior to Guideline Mr. Forzani spent four years as SVP Business Development at marketing agency Euro RSCG 4D. After the acquisition of several companies into 4D, he led the integration effort for the disparate sales teams into one cohesive and coordinated sales force, and then designed and implemented a new sales process and methodology.

He developed his experience in research and consulting services sales during a distinguished tenure at Gartner, Inc., Big-Four consultancy Bearing Point, and Cambridge Technology Partners.

Mr. Forzani spent the early part of his career with Xerox Corporation in varied sales and sales management roles over a 12 year period. As an individual contributor, or by leading sales teams, he consistently ranked among Xerox’s highest annual performers for revenue generated. He was formally recognized by Xerox ten separate years and in every position held, as a top performer for annual contributions and overachievement.



Jack Foreman
Vice President, Product & Channel Development


 

Jack Foreman is responsible for developing new products, services and channels with the goal of generating organic growth at Guideline. Jack has 15 years of experience in the business information and consulting industry. At Gartner Group, Jack held various roles, including Financial Director of Research, VP of Business Operations for Gartner’s first online service, and Group Vice President of Gartner’s media business. At Jupiter Communications, Jack was in charge of strategic planning, a role that included product development, international channel development and mergers and acquisitions. Most recently, Jack worked at the Warner Music Group where he was responsible for establishing digital distribution channels in emerging markets. Jack earned his CPA while working at Price Waterhouse (now Price Waterhouse Coopers).

Jack graduated from the Wharton School with a BS in Economics. He also earned his MBA from the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business.



Tom McGillis
Vice President, Human Resources


 

Tom McGillis has more than eighteen years experience in all aspects of human resource management. He joined Guideline (then FIND/SVP) in August 2000 as HR Director. Tom was promoted to the position of Vice President, Human Resources in 2004. Prior to joining Guideline, Tom headed the employee relations practice at HR Dynamics, Inc., an HR consulting company providing HR assistance primarily to the not-for-profit section. Tom has also worked in and headed HR departments in the hospitality, real estate, and manufacturing sectors.

Tom holds an MBA in organizational psychology from Baruch College's Zicklin School of Business and has been awarded life-time certification at the SPHR (Senior Professional in Human Resources) level by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). He is active in local and national Human Resources organizations and for the last 5 years has been the chairperson of the Manhattan Job Service Employer Committee, an advisory committee working with the New York State Department of Labor.
